Winter Storytime Classes 2015

Books & Babies
Tuesdays 10:00-10:20am
January 6, 13, 20, 27
February 3, 10, 17, 24
March 3, 10, 17, 24 
Books & Babies is a lap-sit program designed to introduce children (6 months - 2 years of age) to language and early literacy. Babies sit with their caregiver and model the activities presented through simple finger plays, songs, stories and nursery rhymes. Registration is required.

Toddler Tales
Wednesdays 10:00-10:30am

The Toddler Tales program is a blend of Books & Babies and Pre-School Storytime activities. A variety of stories are combined with songs, rhymes, finger plays, crafts and free play. This program is appropriate for children ages 2-3 years old. Registration is required.

Pre-School Storytime I
Tuesdays 10:45-11:15am

Holiday Open House


Thursday, December 18th from 6:30-7:30 p.m.


Santa and Mrs. Claus will be posing for pictures and there will be ornament-making downstairs in the community room. Live music and refreshments.

Pictures, and Pumpkins, and Puppets - Oh My!


 Thursday, November 20th at 6:30 p.m.

Come out to the Wadsworth Library to celebrate fall with students from SUNY Geneseo! There will be books and a puppet show, along with crafts and treats to get everyone on the spirit of fall.

Open to children 3 and up. Registration is not required. 

**Tonight's program has been cancelled due to the nasty winter weather. We hope to re-schedule. Stay warm!**

The Rochester Children’s Book Festival is presented by RACWI (Rochester Area Children’s Writers and Illustrators) and the Lift Bridge Book Shop . Our hosting sponsors are 292-Baby and Monroe Community College, in affiliation with The Friends and Foundation of the Rochester Public Library.
Our mission is to promote reading to and by children, benefit Monroe County libraries, and forge connections between the community and children’s authors and illustrators. A wonderful event for parents and children!

Schedule Change

Reminder: The Wadsworth Library will not have storytime programs on November 4th or 5th, 2014.

We will resume our normal schedule the following week and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The library will be open so please visit and enjoy our other offerings! 

*Pick out books to share at home.

*Use the children's early literacy computers. There are fun and educational games to help your child prepare for kindergarten (and beyond!)

*Play with puzzles, toys, the train set, and more.

* Look up information about trucks, dinosaurs, outer space, and your child's interests. 

*Check-out music CD's with your favorite storytime songs and listen at home or in the car.

Fall Children's Events

It's a Silly Spooky Halloween Show
Thursday, October 23rd at 6:30 p.m.
Join Charlie, of "Charlie & Checkers" fame, for some Halloween magic, comedy, and fun! Charlie will also share some tips for kids to make their Halloween experience both fun and safe. Registration is not required. 

Fabulous Fancy Nancy!
Monday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m.
It's a soiree (that's a fancy word for party) at the library! Wear your fanciest clothes and come celebrate. We'll read some Fancy Nancy stories, enjoy a fun craft, and eat some treats. Open to children pre-k and up. Registration for this program has CLOSED. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list please call (585) 243-0440.

Fizz Boom Read! Summer Reading 2014

Attention Summer Readers!

We invite you to join us for this year's summer reading program "Fizz, Boom, Read!"

We have a fun-filled summer ahead with lots of exciting books to read and special library events. Come enjoy musicians, storytellers, magicians, puppeteers, and more. We'll be drawing, singing, eating and creating so don't miss out! We hope that all of these activities will encourage your love of books and reading. Registration for the summer reading program will begin Monday, June 30th.

Yoga and Storytimes Cancelled

Unfortunately, the library meeting room has flooded. Due to clean up and mold prevention measures we will not have Yoga on Saturday (5/17) or storytime programs (5/20 and 5/21) this coming week. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Our final storytimes of May will be 5/27 and 5/28. I hope to see many of you before the June break!

GCS Spring Break Activities

An Afternoon of Stories and Puppetry!
Tuesday, April 15th at 1:00 p.m.

Students from the SUNY Geneseo Storytelling Institute will be visiting the Wadsworth Library to present their final stories of the semester. The students will perform their original or interpreted stories. Please join us for an afternoon of enjoyable listening. Recommended for children K-5th grade. Stories include:

"Have to put a hand on it" by Amy Chan
Amy will share an original story based on a small favor that her mother asked her do.

"A Fisherman's Tale" by Justin Iaquinta
Justin will share an original tale based on his uncle, who may or may not be a fisherman.

"How Raven Stole Back the Sun" by Michelle Moshon
Michelle will share a porquoi tale which explains why we have light in the sky today.

"The Three Bears" by SUNY Geneseo professor, Michael Teres
Michael will tell the tale of Goldilocks and the three bears, using puppets.


Siren the Fire Dog
Thursday, April 17th at 2:00 p.m.
Open to ages 4+
Fireman Brian Shannon and Siren the Livingston County fire dog will be visiting the Wadsworth Library! Fireman Shannon will be sharing the story No Dragons for Tea by Jean Pendziwol followed by a brief demonstration and meet and greet. 

Spring Into Reading: Story and Craft Event
Friday, April 18th from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Sigma Tau Delta, SUNY Geneseo's English Honor Society, will be holding a reading event celebrating spring on April 18 from 2:00-3:00 PM in the Wadsworth Library meeting room. In addition, we will have a surprise craft related to the season and a snack! This event is for school-age children (5+). Registration is required; the event is free. Sign-up today!
