Santa & Mrs Claus

Santa and Mrs. Claus Visit the Wadsworth Library!
 Thursday, December 15th 6:30-7:30 p.m.
This holiday season come visit Santa at the library! While Santa is posing for pictures and taking gift requests, children will have an opportunity to decorate ornaments for their trees and enjoy some Christmas music.  
Registration is NOT required, children of all ages are welcome!

Wadsworth Library "Giving Tree"

Each year the library purchases as many children's books and craft supplies as possible. If you are interested in helping us replenish our supplies please stop by and select a gift tag from the Giving Tree.

Step 1: Select a gift tag. They represent beloved children's books that need replacing as well new titles and craft supplies. We have listed an approximate cost for the books on the back of the ornament. Hardcover is requested.

Step 2: Bring your purchased item to the circulation desk and we will replace your gift tag with a thank you.

If you are interested in participating, make sure to stop by the library this December.

 Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the library posing for pictures, taking gift requests and celebrating the season. Children will be able to make a variety of Christmas tree ornaments while enjoying Christmas music and holiday treats. Join us for this evening of holiday fun!

Holiday Preview

7th Annual "Make Your Own Gingerbread House”
 Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 p.m.
Come out for some guaranteed Christmas fun! We'll be making our own gingerbread houses from graham crackers, frosting and various candies. Open to children 3 and up.
 This program is currently FULL. If you are interested in attending please call and leave your name on the waiting list.

Evening Animal Storytime

Join SUNY Geneseo's English Honor Society for an Animal Storytime! We'll be reading Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, Elmer by David Mckee and more. Then stick around for fun arts and crafts activities and snack time. Appropriate for children pre-k through 2nd grade. We hope to see you there!

Fall Storytime Programs

Books & Babies
Tuesdays from
10:00-10:20 a.m. Beginning Sept. 6th
Books & Babies is a lap-sit program designed to introduce children (6 months - 2 years of age) to
language and early literacy. Babies sit with their caregiver and model the activities presented through simple finger plays, songs, stories and nursery rhymes. Registration is required.
Pre-School Storytime Tuesdays from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Beginning Sept. 6th Storytime is directed at children ages 3-5 and includes books, songs, finger plays and crafts. Registration is required.
Toddler Tales

Wednesdays from 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Beginning Sept. 7th
The Toddler Tales program is a blend of Books & Babies and Pre-School Story Time activities. A variety of stories are combined with songs, rhymes, finger plays, crafts and free play. This program is appropriate for children ages 2-4 years old.
Registration is required.

If you're starting Kindergarten this year, this program is for you! Celebrate the impending first day of school with specially selected stories and a craft. Children from all area school districts are welcome to participate.

If you need to bring an older/younger sibling, they are welcome and a different craft will be provided for them. Please tell the staff if you are bringing additional children when you register, so that we can be prepared.

Summer Reading 2011 is Almost Here!

Brochures for the upcoming summer reading program are now available! Copies of the brochure will also be distributed at the Genesee Country Christian, Geneseo Central, and York Central Schools in early June.

Keep track of upcoming summer events online by following us on Facebook, checking this site regularly, or consider joining the Children's E-list. The library sends approximately two e-mails a month with information about upcoming programs, special events, registration, closings, etc. You may unsubscribe at any time. Please e-mail Children's Librarian, Sarah Matthews, at smatthews@pls-net.org to have your name added.

Summer Writing Workshop


Grades 1-5

We are thrilled to be offering a second writing workshop this summer!
Children will be writing in their writers notebooks (Don't have one? You Will!) and filling it up with new and fresh ideas. They will work together to write sensational stories, create perfect poems, craft some new nonfiction, really anything they want! At the end of the week participants will publish an anthology of their best work to share with friends and family at summer cookouts! The class will be taught by Debbie Murray, reading teacher at Geneseo Elementary School.

Bring a writing utensil, your writers notebook (if you have one), a snack, and a USB thumb/flash drive if possible.

**Registration for this program has CLOSED**
If your child is interested in attending PLEASE call and add their name to the wait list. If participants drop out children on the wait list will be called approx. one week before the program begins. Also, children on the wait list will be given priority if/when this program is offered again in the future.

Sing, Sign, and Play Classes


NEW this summer!

Thursdays from 11:00-11:30 am July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4, 11

With certified baby signing time instructor, Linda Schmackpfeffer.


This six week session is recommended for babies under 24 months old and their caregiver. Each class is 30 minutes long and has a weekly theme. We will use music, books, and playful activities to help hearing babies and adults learn simple ASL signs while having fun. Handouts will be provided with the signs for that weeks theme.

Registration is recommended and will begin June 1st.

Come and spend the afternoon building a LEGO masterpiece! Leave your own LEGO's at home, we'll be using the library's collection and displaying our creations in the library. Registration is required as space is limited.

Raptors on the Road
Wednesday, February 23rd

2:00-3:00 p.m.
Age 4 and up.
Come and meet some unusual raptors! Our guest will include five different birds of prey including owls and hawks. We will learn the natural history, biology and adaptations of these different birds. Free and open to the public!

Fancy Nancy Pajama Party!
Thursday, February 24th

6:30-7:30 p.m.
Age 3 and up.
It's a soiree (that's a fancy word for part at the library! Wear your fanciest pajamas, bring a blanket or pillow, and come celebrate! We'll read some Fancy Nancy stories, enjoy a fun craft and eat some treats. Registration is required as space is limited.
